Alberta's Bill 30 introduces important amendments to the Condominium Property Act and related building legislation that will directly impact condominium corporations, boards, developers and owners. This session will provide a breakdown of what has changed, why it matters and how these updates affect governance, operations and risk management in condo communities.
Presented by Dionne Levesque, SVR Lawyers LLP and Stephanie Whyte, McLeod Law LLP, whose discussion will:

- Explain changes affecting governance, board duties
- Review compliance considerations and mechanisms
Speakers:
Dionne Levesque, Partner | SVR Lawyers LLP
After graduating from law school, Dionne articled and practiced at a prominent Calgary law firm where she maintained a practiced in construction, condominium, real estate and corporate law. In 2016, Dionne joined to Scott Venturo Rudakoff LLP where she became a partner in 2020. She now focuses primarily on condominium law and regularly represent individuals, boards, managers and developers with respect to various condominium and home-owner association matters including: bylaw creation, interpretation and enforcement, governance and director obligations, insurance and D&O claims, construction disputes, home warranty claims and litigation.
Dionne is Co-Chair of the CBA Calgary South Alberta Real Estate Law Subsection. She has been a member of her own Condominium Board for 13 years where she has worked through developer issues, warranty issues, and the standard “people, pets and parking disputes”. She is currently assisting CCI/AREA in drafting condominium manager and broker courses for RECA qualification.

Stephanie Whyte, Partner | McLeod Law LLP
Stephanie is a partner in the Litigation Department of McLeod Law LLP, specializing in Condominium Law, Foreclosures, Debt Recovery and Personal Injury. She represents condominium corporations, boards, and property managers with collections, foreclosures, bylaw enforcement, bylaw interpretation and opinions, and access issues. She represents banks, financial institutions, and private lenders in foreclosure, and secured and unsecured debt recovery. She also assists parties in obtaining compensation when they are injured through no fault of their own.
